MAXILLARY SINUS SEPTA: PREVALENCE AND ASSOCIATION WITH GENDER AND LOCATION IN THE MAXILLA AMONG ADULTS IN SANA'A CITY, YEMEN

Background and aims: Maxillary sinus septa are partitions of cortical bone dividing the into multiple compartments. Their presence dimension relevance to periodontitis, oral maxillofacial surgeons as well otolaryngologists. The aim this study was determine prevalence association maxillary septum with gender location in maxilla among adults Sana’a city, Yemen.
 Methods: This is a retrospective carried out on 633 patient orthopantomograms (OPGs) which had visible without pathological or developmental changes from first March 2021 end February 2022 at Department Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Faculty Dentistry, University private clinics city. Descriptive statistics continuous variable (age) summarized mean standard deviation while categorical variables were frequencies percentages presented tables. Bivariate analysis performed test for between dependent (maxillary presence, presentation position) independent (gender location).
 Results: age patients 29.59 years, range 16 -56 females 380 (60.0%). Of 259 (40.9%) identified, 206 (79.5 %%) females. Majority 180 (69.5%) unilateral, 79 (30.5%) bilateral. Occurrence unilateral higher males 104 (41.1%) OR=2.8, 95% CI=1.9-3.98, p<0.0001; than (20%), bilateral occurs roughly equal rates both (11.86 VS 12.89%).
